The Question:

What is your opinion about abdominal vacuum exercise and what about training abs for 6 days a week with reps until failure in order to feel the pain? I combine your recommended exersise with partial crunches and abdominal vacuum and tummy tach (that is the name of the exersise).

The Answer:

The "stomach vacuum" is actually a pretty good exercise and it is being used more specifically today to treat lower back pain! It can give you great postural control over your abdominal muscles allowing your stomach to appear smaller.

Remember, the abdominal muscles will respond in a similar way to what other muscles respond to. You can usually train your abs more frequently but you should vary your routine by switching from repetition based workouts to workouts that involve some sort of resistance in conjunction with lower repetition ranges. This will give you the best results in developing your abdominal muscles. Then, as I've said to many of our members, if you want your abs to really "show" you must not only do the workouts but diet properly as well.
