The Question:

Just found out about your web site, and am eager to start...here is my question: I am an RN that works 12 hours nights full-time. What do you reccomend to be the best time to do a workout? AM (after getting off) or evening? I would appreciate any advice you would have to offer...

The Answer:

You have one of those very difficult schedules. I have worked with police officers and firemen who have this type of problem as well. Most of them like to do their workout right after their shift. The hard part about this is many times they would be so tired it was hard to exercise properly. However, if they waited to train right before their shift started many of them would procrastinate and actually end up skipping their workouts.

There is really no physiological reason behind training before or after your shift. There are pros and cons for both training times. You will have to make a decision as to what is best for you.
