The Question:First, I love your website Dan. Second, I am currently doing the Armed Forces Workout, but I really would like to get into the Bodybuilding Workout. If I start doing the 5 Day Bodybuilding Workout, how can I include running/jogging into the weight training routine?
I want to keep jogging so that I can have a decent cardiovascular fitness level (and loose my gut), but I have been told that jogging is counter productive to body building. Is that true?
If so, how long/far/many times per week would you recommend that I jog while using the bodybuilding routine? What days should I jog on? The Answer:Yes, jogging is counter-productive to building mass. But, you have to be in shape also! If you do the Bodybuilding program you should jog on Workout 1, Workout 3, and then on Saturday if you are doing the standard Monday through Friday split.
You should keep your heart rate under 70-75% of your age predicted max heart rate (APMHR) and keep your sessions under 30 minutes in length at the most. Type in "Aerobic Guidelines" in the search function on our home page for more info on APMHR.
